UAE · DIFC Wills

Your assets in the UAE. Your family protected.

Wills registered with the DIFC Courts in Dubai, for residents and non-residents with assets or children in the UAE.

I am a DIFC Registered Wills Draftsman and an Italian lawyer. I prepare your DIFC will and, if you also own assets in Italy, I make sure the two plans work together.

What it is

A will made for the UAE

A DIFC will is a will in English, drafted under common-law principles and registered with the DIFC Courts Wills Service in Dubai. You decide who receives your assets in the UAE and who looks after your children, instead of leaving it to the default rules.

Who it is for

Anyone with assets or children in the UAE, whether or not they live there.

  • UAE residents and expatriate families
  • Non-residents who own property, companies or accounts in the UAE
  • Parents of minor children living in the UAE
  • Families with assets in both the UAE and Italy
What it covers

A will for each need, alone or combined.

  • Full will: all your UAE assets
  • Property will: real estate
  • Business owners will: company shares
  • Financial assets will: bank and investment accounts
  • Guardianship will: your children
Why it matters

Without a registered will, your family may need court proceedings before they can access accounts and property.

  • Accounts can be frozen after a death
  • Default rules may not reflect your wishes
  • A court decides who cares for your children
  • A registered will gives certainty and speed
Children

If your children live in the UAE, choose who would look after them.

If something happened to both parents, a court would decide who cares for your children. With a DIFC Guardianship Will you name their guardian yourself, and who would manage what they inherit until they are adults. It is available for children living in Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah.

UAE and Italy

One plan for two countries.

A DIFC will does not settle your Italian assets on its own. Property, accounts and companies in Italy go through Italian succession procedures, notaries and tax filings. I look after both sides.

Book a consultation
  1. 01I check how your DIFC will works with Italian succession law and the shares reserved to close family.
  2. 02I advise on the choice of law available to you under the EU Succession Regulation.
  3. 03Where useful, I prepare an Italian will, so each country has a document it recognises.
  4. 04Your family deals with one lawyer for both sides, in English, Italian or French.
How it works

From the first call to registration

Most of the work happens by video and shared documents, wherever you are.

  1. Introductory call

We look at your family, your assets and where they are.

  2. Written proposal

Scope and fee in writing. Nothing starts until you approve it.

  3. Drafting

I draft the will and we review it together until it says exactly what you want.

  4. Signing and registration

You sign before the DIFC Courts Wills Service, in Dubai or remotely where available.

Good to know

Before we speak

Residence

You do not need to live in the UAE. Owning assets there is enough.

Eligibility

DIFC wills are available to people aged 18 or over who are not, and have never been, Muslim.

Other options

For clients who cannot use a DIFC will, other routes exist in the UAE, and I can advise on the Italian side of the estate.
