Property, inheritance and business in Italy
For clients in the United States, the UK, the Gulf and across Europe. Most matters touch more than one area: a purchase raises questions of succession, an investment raises questions of tax and family. I look at the whole picture.
Buying, owning and selling property in Italy, with independent checks the notary does not make for you.
- Finding the right property, with introductions to independent agents I trust
- Legal due diligence: title, permits, planning and all pre-purchase checks
- Comparison of taxes and purchase costs

Send it to me before you sign anything in Italy.
A purchase offer, a reservation form, a contract: in Italy you can be bound earlier than you expect, and a deposit can be lost. Send me the document and I will tell you in writing what it means for you, what my review involves and what it costs.

I help international families with their legal matters in Italy.
Before founding my practice, I worked in private equity between London and Dubai. It gave me the chance to work with people from every walk of life and every corner of the world, and to see what they really need from a lawyer: clarity, speed and someone they can trust.
When I came back to Italy, I decided to focus on what I enjoy most: helping international clients find their way through the Italian legal system. I work in English, Italian and French, mostly by video, as my clients usually live abroad.
From the first call to the signing, I take care of the whole matter and, when needed, coordinate notaries, surveyors, tax advisers and banks, so that nothing gets lost along the way.

Notes on Italian law for international clients
Before we speak
Can’t find your question? Ask it in the form below.
Do I need to come to Italy?
Usually not. Documents are shared online, meetings take place by video, and you can sign through a power of attorney at a notary or consulate near you.
How are your fees set?
After the first call I send a written proposal with the scope of work and the fee. Nothing starts before you approve it in writing, and notary, tax and surveyor costs are estimated up front so you know the full budget.
Isn’t the notary enough when buying a property?
In Italy the notary is a neutral public official who acts for the transaction, not for you. The estate agent is usually paid by both sides. A lawyer acts only for you: checks the property beyond the notary’s scope, negotiates the contracts and protects your deposit.
When should I contact you?
Before you sign anything. In Italy a signed purchase offer can bind you once the seller accepts it, and a preliminary contract usually comes with a deposit you may lose. The earlier I see the documents, the more options you have.
Which languages do you work in?
English, Italian and French, both in writing and in meetings. Contracts can be prepared with a side-by-side translation.
Can you help me find a property?
I am not an estate agent and I do not take commissions on sales. When it helps, I introduce you to independent agents and property finders I trust in the area you are considering, and I check each property from a legal point of view before you commit.
Do you work with clients in the United States?
Yes, many of my clients live in the United States. I am used to working across time zones, with US powers of attorney and apostilles, and alongside US lawyers, accountants and trust advisers.
Can a trust own property in Italy?
Italy recognises foreign trusts under the 1985 Hague Convention. Whether a trust is the right way to hold Italian property depends on Italian tax and succession rules, and I review it together with your advisers.
I live in the UAE. Can you help with my will?
Yes. As a DIFC Registered Wills Draftsman I can prepare a will for registration with the DIFC Courts, coordinated with your Italian assets, where you are eligible to use that service.
Can you work with my lawyer or accountant at home?
Yes. I regularly coordinate with lawyers, accountants and wealth managers abroad, and I keep them informed with the same updates I send you.
How quickly do you reply?
I reply personally within two working days. For a document you have to sign soon, say so in the form and I will prioritise it.
